Whaleback course is an excellent public golf course that adds many opportunities for all golfers to impress, the course is a Par 71 (ACR 69) opened in 1981 it is 5,595 Metres in length with slope of 115, it is well presented and although it appears easy or benign, it is deceptively more challenging for all golfers. The course features four lakes, several bunkers and some strategically placed fairway trees.
However the Whaleback Golf Course is more like a Country Club as it features tennis courts, (four are floodlit), change rooms and showers, a function room, an alfresco bar and coffee shop and ample parking. In 2002 a two storey driving range was installed and is floodlit so golfers can practice till late, the chipping and putting greens are also floodlit; and on Thursday evenings there is a Roast Dinner available from 5:30 till 7 pm. There is a fantastic pro shop with very helpful staff that make playing here a pleasure. Our club The Scuds Social Golf Club play every Saturday morning and have done so for over 25 years, and there are several midweek social clubs that also enjoy these great facilities. Here is a breakdown of each hole as given by a Scuds member playing off a 15 handicap and playing over 200 games on the Whaleback Golf Course.
